COVID-19 Pandemic and Global Mental Health
In this PLOS Medicine Special Issue, we present a fascinating array of research papers which provide insights into various facets of mental health during the pandemic. Key themes include increases in the prevalence of common mental health problems across a range of settings, the inequitable distribution of this burden, and the strong association with contextual factors such as the stringency of lockdowns and severity of the pandemic.
Such research is essential not only for understanding the COVID-19 pandemic, but also for facilitating recovery, and ensuring that the world is better prepared for future global health crises.
The guest editors of this fascinating collection are Vikram Patel, Daisy Fancourt, Toshi Furukawa, and Lola Kola.
