SCOPE
In the wake of the recent IPCC AR6 Working Group reports and ahead of the AR7 Special Report on climate change and cities, PLOS Climate is calling for submissions for a new Collection on Cities and Climate Change. There is a clear and urgent need for a strong and wide-ranging evidence base for decision-makers to take informed actions in policy and practice.
We therefore welcome the submission of research articles that address all aspects of creating physical, social, ecological and systems resilience to climate change in urban environments across the world. We particularly encourage submissions of interdisciplinary papers and studies using innovative methodologies, as well as those which share perspectives from underrepresented regions and communities.

Cities are demographic, socio-economic and infrastructure hotpots where key battles have to be fought on the path to deep decarbonization, as well as addressing the risk-exposure and vulnerability to the impacts of climate change to more than 55% of the world’s population. To support climate actions, we need a strong, Open Access knowledge base, which PLOS Climate is committed to providing.
