Cognitive Psychology Call for Papers

Transparency in reporting and methodological rigor have received increased interest in many areas of psychology and cognitive science. They are crucial ingredients in ensuring the replicability of our findings, especially with hard to reach populations, high variability in responses, and reduced attention during experiments. Because large sample sizes are difficult to acquire in this field, making it difficult to estimate the reliability of the results reported, efforts to improve reproducibility, for instance, with code and data sharing and pre-registration, are particularly relevant in developmental cognitive psychology.

In this Call for Papers, we are inviting submissions in cognitive developmental psychology across the lifespan. This call for papers is broad in scope, allowing for a range of subdisciplines in developmental psychology, including early cognitive development, language development, atypical development, cognitive processing across the lifespan, among others. This call is open to confirmatory and exploratory research, and to clinical trials or observational studies alike.

Adherence to transparent reporting practices will be a consideration for inclusion in this Collection. Articles from the Collection adhering to best open science practices (such as pre-registration and code sharing) will be highlighted. In particular, authors are strongly encouraged to include in their submission an OSF project page containing their supporting materials (such as code, data, protocol, consent form, preprint) or to submit their manuscript to a preprint server such as PsyArXiv.
