PLOS is a non-profit organization on a mission to drive open science forward with measurable, meaningful change in research publishing, policy, and practice.

Building on a strong legacy of pioneering innovation, PLOS continues to be a catalyst, reimagining models to meet open science principles, removing barriers and promoting inclusion in knowledge creation and sharing, and publishing research outputs that enable everyone to learn from, reuse and build upon scientific knowledge.

We believe in a better future where science is open to all, for all.

The Experimental Biology Conference, hosted jointly by five scientific societies, brings together investigators from diverse biomedical disciplines. This conference provides an exciting opportunity to celebrate scientific advances made possible by cross-disciplinary research. In the Editor’s Picks: Experimental Biology Collection, PLOS ONE Associate Editor Anna Simonin highlights research in subject areas related to those that will be discussed by the host societies at the 2018 Experimental Biology conference: anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, investigative pathology, nutrition and pharmacology. Within these categories, we have selected articles from the PLOS journals that use a variety of experimental approaches to advance our scientific knowledge in these areas.
