PLOS Pathogens: 10th Anniversary Collection
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the launch of PLOS Pathogens, over 60 Section Editors, all experts on studies of viruses, bacteria, prions, fungi, oomycetes and parasites of animals and plants, were invited to select articles that they believed represented the very best exemplars from their respective fields. The resulting 42 articles were chosen for their scientific excellence, diversity and sheer influence on pathogens research and human health. At its inception on September 30th, 2005, the vision of the editors of PLOS Pathogens was to publish high caliber research of interest across the wide spectrum of pathogens. Indeed, these shared principles unify not just the outstanding research studies but also a community of editors, authors and readers, bound by mutual interest in molecular pathogenesis and open access. We are deeply indebted to this community and hope you will enjoy perusing this collection.
