Whilst biological mechanisms can explain some aspects of psychiatric disorders, their influence is moderated by a myriad of societal factors. This Collection highlights research on the impact of social conditions on individuals' mental wellbeing, including epidemiological research on the predictors and influencing factors on the incidence of psychiatric disorders.
