Understanding and Preventing Suicide
Suicide is a major public health problem affecting the lives of millions of people around the world and despite significant attention, in many places rates are still increasing.
This PLOS ONE collection brings together a range of studies that together represent the complexity of suicide, including studies from a number of countries from around the world, studies that report on efforts to reduce suicide in different population groups and across different settings along with studies that have used novel approaches to tackle the problem of suicide and its sequelae.
